In week 3 of my trimester at SAE, for my GDS210 unit, we were put into groups of 3 and tasked with creating a 2D arcade style game for touch screen and mobile devices, complete with pixel art style graphics and an 8-bit musical soundtrack for the game. Our initial idea for the game was to create a game where the player takes the role of a bartender pouring different combination of drinks in an arcade style fashion to earn points, however, we later decided against this idea and instead focused on an adventure style endless runner.
The game we created was called Tomb Zoom, and was an endless runner, following an Indiana Jones adventurer type character, who had several actions available to him, including sliding, jumping, and swinging with a rope on the correct objects when reaching a gap. In the game I was responsible for creating the menu systems and the UI objects, and the score/variable functions. I feel I did a good job when completing this task, and enjoyed working on the game. I was also in charge of creating the 8-bit music soundtrack for the game, which I did complete, however, I was late in completing this task and the music was not used in the final build. In future I plan to complete more tasks for my group, and complete tasks in a more timely fashion. Overall I was happy with the final project that me and my group created.
