Overview
For my second project in GDS210 for my 5th trimester at SAE, I was in a group of 3 and was tasked with creating a 3D arcade recreation of a popular arcade game, with slight additions such as multiplayer modes and added features. In our group, we decided on recreating the arcade classic Bomberman. The game is a multiplayer version of the game in 3D in which four players fight each other by placing bombs. I was tasked with designing the game manager and the score functionality and score UI as well as making the models for the game environments.
Successes
Throughout this project, I feel that I did a good job in completing the tasks that I was assigned in my group, even though I did not have many tasks. I was also successful in completing the tasks I was assigned, which included, setting up the game manager and variable functionality such as score and UI, and editing the associated scripts for these components to work properly. I was also successful in creating a the models for the palm trees in the beach level in the game.
Failures
During this project, I feel as though I could have taken on more tasks with regards to working with my group and completing the tasks I was tasked with in a timely manner. I feel that I could have made more effort to engage with my group, and could have taken on more of the workload and completed it much faster than I did. I had to ask my lecturer several times for help with my solutions and had to negotiate with my group members on completing tasks.
Lessons Learned
During this project, I feel as though I could have made a better effort to engage with my group and with the project we were working on. I learnt a lot from this project in that my efforts with it, including working with Maya and improved my knowledge on loops, which I have had trouble with in the past. I plan to greatly improve my performance, marks, attendance, and efforts towards group projects, for the final project of this unit.
